Maine gov seeks to get rid of wind energy goals

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — Gov. Paul LePage is proposing to eliminate the wind energy generation goals in Maine law, which the administration says are unrealistic and must be strengthened to ensure the state benefits from wind power through job creation and lower energy costs.

LePage's administration recently introduced a measure under which the wind power megawatt goals would be replaced with goals to expand economic opportunities and lower electricity prices through wind power.
